A “given” with regard to Jehovah God’s plan for the
earth: At a point yet future there must
be a sufficiently large number of Jews (perhaps a majority) in Jerusalem
who have embraced Yeshua Hamashiah (Jesus,
the Messiah) who will cry out: “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the
Lord!” (Matthew 23:39). This cry
will precipitate the most stupendous event in all human history: the 2nd Coming of Yeshua
Hamashiah.
In a previous installment I’ve spoken of Satan’s attempt to
thwart this process by physically eliminating Jews from the time of Yeshua
Hamashiah’s first coming, which was to judge sin and disarm principalities (see
Colossians 2:15), to the present. This
phase of Satan’s stratagem has failed, Jews are in the Land of Israel and
continue to return from every corner of the earth.
With Jews now back in the land and continuing to fill it,
they must be in a position to cry out “Blessed
is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”. The other half of
Satan’s plan to thwart the return of Yeshua Hamashiah, is to set enmity between
Jew and Gentile (Christians), to keep Jews from a personal relationship with
Yeshua Hamashiah.
Until about twenty years ago Satan admirably succeeded in this process, setting Jews
and Christians at odds almost from the time of Messiah’s first coming to the
present. This was ironic because Jehovah
God ordained Christians should be the primary instrument bringing Jews
to a knowledge of Yeshua Hamashiah.
First, Christians would bring Jews to Yeshua Hamashiah by provoking them
to jealousy (Romans 10:19)—i.e., by the anointing (Holy Spirit power) upon
Christians and Jehovah’s love flowing from them. Secondly, by preaching,“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom
they have not heard? And how shall they
hear without a preacher? And how shall
they preach unless they are sent? As it
is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of
peace. Who bring glad tidings of good
things!’” (Romans 10:14,15).
Today, in every place where there are large concentrations
of Jews they are embracing Yeshua Hamashiah in rapidly increasing numbers, at
the same time maintaining their Jewishness. Jonathan Bernis in his book, A
Rabbi Looks at the Last Days, says, “Since 1967 (the “Six-Day War”), there
are more Jews who believe in Jesus than at any time since the first century”
(p. 82). He further speaks of a little
known fact that accompanying “The Jesus Movement” and the “Charismatic Renewal”,
both evidences of revival in the church, principally following the Six-Day War,
“thousands of Jewish youth who were searching for greater meaning and purpose
in their lives began to embrace Jesus and were saved” (p. 136). This principally led to the “Messianic
Movement” out of which has grown about 350 Messianic Jewish Congregations
world-wide. Since
1993, Rabbi Bernis himself has led numerous crusades in Russia with Jews
embracing Yeshua Hamashiah by the tens of thousands, this also is a little
known fact.
Satan’s second stratagem is breaking down, both
Messianic Jews and Christians are stepping up evangelistic efforts with a goal
of reaching every Jewish community on the globe. All this infuriates Satan and his efforts
against the Jew will intensify, but to no avail. One day the Jewish Community in Israel will
say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name
of the Lord!” And then. . . He Comes!
