When God’s power is released and His actions rightly
interpreted, He is glorified. That’s
because His actions are designed to bring persons into His family and this will
always be the case, aside from various judgments. When God’s power is not being released, His
redemptive plan is being checked. In
support of this I present a verse from both the Old and New Testaments as
witnesses. Old Testament: “Yes, again and again they [Israel] tempted God, and limited the Holy One of
Israel” (Psalm 78:41). God’s
objective through Israel was to reveal His glory to the nations. New Testament: “And He
[Jesus] did not do many mighty
works there [in Nazareth, His
home town] because of their unbelief” (Matthew
13:58). Jesus’ objective in all things was
to make known and glorify the Father.
When Israel was not trusting God and walking in obedience,
God’s glory was not revealed to Israel’s neighbors and His redemptive objective
was thwarted. Similarly, at those points
where Jesus was not accepted and believed, as in Nazareth, He could not [did
not do] many mighty works there and the Father was not glorified.
So What’s God’s
Strategy for Today?
It is to take unredeemed persons, redeem them (i.e., get
them “saved”, “born again”, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit),
progressively cleanse and “sanctify” them [set apart for His use], set them in
bodies [traditionally through recognized churches; more and more through home
churches and small groups] and turn them loose on an unsuspecting world,
releasing God’s grace and healing power everywhere these persons go.
In this process the Heavenly Father is glorified and the
Kingdom of God is enlarged. If a given “Christian”
does not agree with this general program,
that person would do well to re-examine the foundations of his faith. Are you with the program?
